Biography
Born in 1977 near Paris, France
Lives and works in Liège, Belgium
David Bruce first discovered the world of graffiti when he was a teenager. During his school years, David Bruce played basketball. When he used to take the train, some twenty kilometers from Paris, to play in neighboring towns, he fantasized about trains and station platforms covered with graffiti.
He develops an offbeat universe, driven by simple shapes and everyday objects (creating a gap with our increasingly connected society).
The artist is not concerned with scale or realism. Only the energy of the moment and the pleasure of painting prevail. This playfulness is reflected in his ceramics.
Another constant: chromatic choices inspired by street art. As David Bruce explains: “My palette is just as limited as my subjects: ten colors maximum”.
Inspiration? It's everywhere. In the street, but also in fashion magazines.
